France activates interministerial crisis response for record heatwave

France is preparing for an exceptional heatwave expected to strike Tuesday through the weekend, with eight western departments placed on orange alert, Le Figaro reports. An interministerial meeting chaired by Sébastien Lecornu is scheduled for Thursday to coordinate the government's response to the extreme heat event.
